LightHouse Reader allows your child to download books, videos, and Power Challenges for offline work. With this ability, they can take their reading assignments wherever they go, in a car, or plane, or any place where there is no Wi-Fi.
The first time your child opens a book while online, it will automatically download to their local device. After that, the book will be available to read even when the internet is inaccessible.
While they are offline, minutes read, pages read, and other assessments will not be calculated. However, as soon as their local device reconnects to the internet it will send the cached data to the LightHouse Reader server so that the child’s data will reflect their offline reading progress.
The same is true for Power Challenges. As long as your child opens the Power Challenge for the first time while online, all of the reading passages and assessment questions will be downloaded to their device and be available for work offline. When your child’s device reconnects to the internet, their Power Challenge results will upload, and their Lexile reading level will be updated accordingly.
You or your child can select up to 10 books and 10 videos to download which will be available on that device for 21 days for your child to access offline. This is perfect for travel, reading outdoors, or nighttime reading if you limit Wi-Fi after certain hours.
