From March Madness to video games - we all love a good tournament! With Lighthouse Reader, your child can complete in fun, parent-created reading tournaments for badges and other prizes.
To create a tournament, a parent selects rather the competition will be based on minutes read or books completed, as well as the start and end dates. Then--the fun part--you get to choose what prize, if any, will be awarded to the winner or winners. You can choose fun badges, type in a custom prize, or just write a congratulatory message for the winner.
Once a tournament is created, just use its unique code to invite others to the fun. Get creative and create a tournament for your immediate family, all the cousins, or your homeschool co-op. Or you can search for tournaments by ZIP Code or by your child’s grade and request to join ones already in action.
Via the dashboards, you and your child can view all the tournaments they’re in and see their ranking and scores. If your child is currently in a tournament, a badge is displayed to show that off, as well as any badges they have earned in previous tournaments.
Children who enjoy a little friendly competition will love to see their names listed on the leaderboard and track their ranking. And clever use of the tournament's feature is a wonderful way for a parent to incentivize reading.
